Alexandria, VA — The National Institute for Standards in Pharmacist Credentialing’s (NISPC) newly expanded website, now offers online application processing for pharmacists interested in earning a credential as a Certified Disease Manager (CDM) in anticoagulation, asthma, or diabetes. In addition, the site provides interested pharmacists with important information about the Disease State Management (DSM) examinations developed by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) for the NISPC DSM certification program.
Visitors to the site will find the Competency Statements, which form the blueprint of the DSM examinations, the Standards and Objectives for each disease state, and a Candidate’s Review Guide to help pharmacists prepare for the exam administration. Nispc also addresses the needs of pharmacists who have already earned the CDM designation. Certified Disease Managers can access the Recertification Guidelines as well as the Recertification Application from the site.
Other site features include information about paper and pencil exam administrations and a searchable list of CDM’s, which is recognized on the NISPC website through the NABP database. NISPC site visitors may search for a specific CDM by simply clicking on "NISPC Pharmacists."
NISPC was formed in 1998 by the American Pharmaceutical Association (APhA), the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS), and the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) to create a consolidated, nationally-recognized, disease state management credential for pharmacists. Since 1998, NISPC has credentialed nearly 1,000 pharmacists nationally in anticoagulation, asthma, diabetes, and dyslipidemia.
